In this life of chaos and confusion, we often forget to count the blessings that we have! Well, today's post is simply to say #Thankyou I'm very #Grateful to my college St. Xavier's College, #Goa - which has given me so much! Knowledge, wisdom, memories all packed up with so many innumerable friends, lovely teachers, bestiee and a lot more... I owe a lot to this place. Revisiting this place, brings back so many memories... These memories are those irreplaceable moments which I will cherish forever!!! As I'm all set to conclude this, here is a small extract from our college anthem... "Now as we march on the highway of life, we pledge to be through beacons of light!!!  We will carry your teaching far and wide!!!" ❤   #onceaxavieritealwaysaxavierite

The Bindass Bhidu………..

Image
Just a few days back, the Bhidu of Bollywood Cinema Mr. Jackie Shroff graced a press briefing at 46 th  International Film Festival of India to speak about his association with MIFF (Mumbai Internation Film Festival).  I still recollect that particular day, it was one of it’s kind; not that I could see the sun during the night or stars during the day! But that day had something different that made me think, being successful is not equal to be proud!  On my Journey from my station head office to the IFFI 2015 venue, where press briefing of the ace star would take place, took me roughly 5 minutes with my colleague. As we rushed to the place, I thought I was late and hence ran upstairs to the venue trying to catch my breadth so that I look very calm and compose as I get all set to the listen to Mr. Jackie Shroff.  But only after reaching there, there was a whole new scenario infront of me: many press reporters and delegates already were present in that...

Goan Catholic Roce Ceremony

Image
As the bride closed her eyes and looked towards the altar, she joined her hands in prayer. She prayed and prayed… Prayed for a happy married life, a life filled with joy, happiness and good health. The chuddo in the hands profoundly pronounced that she was the bride. The Bride that would be sitting for the roce ceremony today. Roce Ceremony is a tradition that is been taking place from ages in Goa. It is a tradition where the bridal couple is poured with the juice of the coconut water. The fresh coconut water is poured on the bride and groom to bless them and request God for their happy married life. Usually, the roce takes place at the brides and the groom’s place respectively, in the presence of close relatives, friends and neighbours.  Simultaneously, as the roce took place the elderly ladies in the house started singing, “Tambde roza tujhe polle………” (Konkani song) This is a photograph of a recent roce ceremony which was held at Moira. It was as amazing as ...

Letter to the Bestie

Image
To a bestie, As the sun shined bright upon everyone, things proceeded at it’s normal pace. But one sudden moment, a thunderstorm led to a huge growl that made the day miserable. I just remembered the opening of “Kuch kuch Hota Hai” where Rahul and Anjali had a huge fight, Where the entire college tried convincing them, “……But she’s your best friend yaar, Oh! But he’s your best friend yaar…” And that they both became friends. Well, it’s funny that this morning as I woke up I thought about this incident and remembered about the fight that I and my friend had. Reason --- a petty issue, exchange of words, angry, tears etc etc. About him: He is one of the most amazing people I met, helpful, crazy, a soon to be filmmaker… He often wanted me to write something about him, but well I never really did so. I guess, it’s because I never felt like, as he was always just a phone call away. People say that “You write one of your best articles when you’re sad.” May be tha...

Retro Time in Goa...

Image
Goa is all set to groove in the retro mood for the upcoming 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the state. The work in the capital has begun in full swing with this time the theme for the decor being based on 70s retro film era. It's truly amazing to see that the streets in the capital city and the surrounding areas lit up and painted, thus enhancing it’s beauty.  Also, life size cut outs at vantage points, are the key attractions of the decor. It's also, incredible to see the spirit of the state as preparations are in full swing for the warm welcome of the dignitaries and the delegates for this 10 day long film festival which will commence on 20th November. The fest would screen 179 films from 75 countries across different categories which include World Cinema (61 films), Masterstrokes (11 films), Festival Kaleidoscope (20 films), Soul of Asia (7 films), Documentaries (6 films), and Animated Films (6 films).
