A day in the old age home..

Initially when I and my few friends thought of going to an old age home, we never knew this experience would be an unforgettable one. Then we all choose Asilo Old Age home, Mapusa. Prior to one day, I went to take permission and I got an appointment for the next day at about 10 o’clock.
As per the appointment, me and my 4 other friends, visited this place. First of all, there was a bit of hesitation as to how would be the reaction of the people staying there, as this was at least for me the first time I visited an old age home. But things went quite smoothly than I expected. We met everybody one at a time, distributed a few Christmas sweets, shared their experiences, listened to them, and their stories. We all were amazed to see a beautiful crib over there, it was made with real flowers and plants; this crib was directed by a lady, staying in the same old age home.
It is remarkable how they continue to carry a smile on their faces, even after going through such bitter phrases of life. We played music, sang different songs, including a few Konkani ones and as Christmas was around the corner, we sang a few Christmas carols as well, they supported us quite well, by singing along with us. We also danced a bit in front of them. An elderly lady also thought us how to make flowers out of a cloth. It was quite amazing to see, they were very much welcoming, which none of us expected.
We left the old age home at about 3o’clock in the evening, by hugging everybody, and with a promise of soon meeting them again. As we were walking out of the place, each one felt we should come back again, and spent some more time with them. Because today’s experience was a very memorable one and it’s an experience one will never forget for life.
